Vi Business, the enterprise arm of telecom operator Vodafone Idea (Vi), has launched an IoT Innovation Lab in Mumbai in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT). The facility aims to serve as a hub for developing and testing Internet of Things (IoT)-led solutions for Indian enterprises.
The Lab will enable start-ups, device makers, and enterprises to design, test, and scale industry-grade IoT use cases across sectors such as BFSI, IT/ITES, utilities, logistics, manufacturing, retail, governance, healthcare, and smart cities. Demonstrations include connected vehicles, energy optimization through smart grids, and real-time monitoring in smart manufacturing, alongside edge AI-led applications.
By combining Vi’s connectivity, AWS’s global cloud and AI capabilities, and C-DOT’s expertise in setting interoperability standards, the Lab is positioned to help businesses accelerate time-to-market, cut costs, and improve efficiencies.
Arvind Nevatia, Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Vodafone Idea Ltd, said the initiative is designed to “orchestrate the right ecosystem for start-ups and enterprises to design future-ready solutions,” adding that Vi Business is ready to help companies “scale securely, innovate faster and transform with confidence.”
V.G. Sundar Ram, Head of Business Development, AWS India and South Asia, said the collaboration brings together cloud, AI, and connectivity to help enterprises and start-ups “bring next-generation IoT-led solutions to market.”
Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, highlighted that the Lab will provide test environments to promote adoption of oneM2M global IoT standards, which are already adopted as India’s national standard. This will ensure interoperability across diverse systems while safeguarding data security and privacy, he added.
The launch comes amid strong momentum in India’s IoT ecosystem. The country’s IoT device market, valued at $2.89 billion in 2024, is projected to grow to $10.28 billion by 2030, at a CAGR of 23.2%. With over 1.59 lakh DPIIT-recognised start-ups building in areas such as IoT, AI, and digital applications, Vi Business expects the Lab to become a launchpad for enterprise and start-up innovation.
