PNB MetLife is strengthening its enterprise AI agenda with senior executive Rahul Chopra announcing an expanded mandate to lead the company’s “Enterprise AI & Decision Intelligence Office.”
In a recent LinkedIn post, Chopra noted that AI is rapidly moving beyond isolated innovation projects to become central to how enterprises operate, make decisions, engage customers and drive competitive advantage.
As part of the expanded role, the focus areas will include enterprise AI strategy and execution, GenAI and AI agent adoption, AI engineering, data analytics and ML modelling, scalable AI platforms, responsible AI governance frameworks, and AI-led customer and employee experience transformation.
“We are entering a phase where AI is no longer an innovation side-track — it is becoming core to how enterprises operate, decide, engage customers, empower employees, and create competitive advantage,” said Chopra in his LinkedIn post.
The development could significantly support PNB MetLife’s long-term digital and business transformation ambitions. In the insurance sector, AI is increasingly being used to improve underwriting accuracy, personalize customer engagement, speed up claims processing, enhance fraud detection and optimize sales and service operations. A centralized Enterprise AI Office can also help align multiple AI initiatives under a common governance and execution framework, reducing silos and improving scalability across the organization.
Industry observers believe such leadership structures are becoming critical as insurers transition from experimental AI deployments to enterprise-wide implementation with measurable business outcomes. The emphasis on in-house AI product development and collaboration with global MetLife AI and technology teams may also help PNB MetLife accelerate innovation while building internal capabilities suited to the Indian market.
Chopra added that the aim is to help shape an “AI-first enterprise” by combining business transformation with strong AI engineering capabilities and execution support.
